Even with a rich, 216-year history, Middlebury must keep looking to the future. This year and next we will come together to discuss our values, our priorities, and our strengths as an institution.
Toward a Strategic Plan
In 2016, under the leadership of President Laurie L. Patton, Middlebury embarked upon a process called Envisioning Middlebury, which will lead to the creation of a new set of strategic directions for the institution.
Over the next two years, we are bringing together faculty, staff, students, and alumni across our schools, programs, and campuses to engage in conversations, to seek ideas, and to stretch our imaginations of what a future Middlebury might look like, embracing all of its current complexity and its reach, which today extends far beyond the educational and geographic boundaries its founders could have imagined.
All the while, we intend to build upon the unique character and values that guide us: excellence in teaching and research, thinking and acting globally, the health of our planet, the importance of innovation and engagement with the world, and building diverse and inclusive communities.
