Facilitated conversations were small-group discussions held on our campuses in Vermont and California.
These facilitated conversations provided an opportunity for small groups of 10–12 people to discuss broad questions about Middlebury’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities for the future. Each session brought together individuals who represented a variety of roles and programs at Middlebury, so that our strategic planning process could be informed by the multiple perspectives that make Middlebury unique.
The sessions were facilitated by Tobi Marcus.
The conversations centered on three guiding questions:
- Who are we, and what are our deepest values?
- What does the future look like?
- Where do we want to go?
Facilitated conversations were held as follows:
May 3–4 | Monterey campus |
July 5–7 | Middlebury and Bread Loaf campuses |

July 29 | Mills College campus |
